Remaining Stranger

forthcoming (seeking representation and publication)

A collection of literary short stories about surpassing our limits.

Tennessee Williams once wrote, “We are all sentenced to solitary confinement inside our own skins, for life.” Not so in this collection of short stories, where whatever is within us cannot be contained, for better or worse. A student’s school project about babies turns into a living, breathing child. A video-game character breaks her code to provide spiritual guidance to the player. A woman spends forty years planning an escape from the perfect life. The inner lives of cyborg footballers, self-made gorgons and interstellar casino hosts bleed out into the world around them. Boundaries between selves blur, histories take physical form in the present, and one person’s deepest desires react unpredictably against the wider world. Here is an account of relationships, societies and entire realities shaped by the most deeply hidden things within each of us.
